Fucking LJ. So fucking pissed right now.
Not over the change. No, that's just typical LJ stupidity. The fact that there was not ONE COMMENT IN 60+ PAGES THAT THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA AND THEY ROLLED IT OUT ANYWAY. And now there is not one comment in 60+ pages that likes the new fucking comment pages, and do you hear two words from anyone official about it? Ha. No.
One of the LJ mods even admitted in a comment that everyone probably hates him/her right now.
To be fair, unless he/she is directly responsible for this hideous monstrosity of a comment page, I don't hate them. I hate LJ's entire dev team, and probably their PR team, too, but not specifically that mod. Unless they thought this was a good idea, and then I hate them with the fire of a thousand suns.
Even Facebook listens to their users better than LJ, and that's saying something.

Date: 2011-12-21 11:46 pm (UTC)If you already use an S2 style (and I imagine most people do) you can just enable custom comment pages. It's not perfect, but if you can stand the sight of whatever style you use (mine is a bit hard on my eyes, but it sucks way less than the new default comment pages) you can also set all journals to display in your style which sort of helps. Still not happy about this bullshit. They better fix it and fast.

Date: 2011-12-21 05:42 pm (UTC)Everything about this is hideous, from the new font to the fugly new comments, to the way they have the userpics pop up if you want to change them (and not even in alphabetical order, either. WTF was the point of making sure they were alphabetized if they're just gonna pop in some random order?!), to the now lacking header option in comments. I HATE IT ALL.
If they keep this, I'm just going to fucking leave. v______v

Date: 2011-12-21 11:54 pm (UTC)I don't even know what they did to the font. At first glance, the basic design looks very similar, but the longer you're on the page the worse it gets. I hate to say it, but I've switched default comment pages off entirely. Which makes me kind of sad. I like seeing the different journals everyone has made when I go to comms or author pages or whatever. Now I can't. :( I have to see everything in my style or lose a large part of my functionality.
Which, btw, in case that news hasn't reached you yet- if you're already using an S2 style, you can just enable custom comments and then check the box that applies your journal settings to all journals and that will reset the functionality. They haven't fucked with S2 yet, just the default. (Although how long until then is unclear.)
I want to leave, but there's really no good place to go to. Dreamwidth might eventually catch up to where LJ is now, but none of the comms there are as active even as on LJ. And I'm sitting on a perm account. I can't move my 150+ icons to Dreamwidth where I only get 15. :( It makes me sad. Something will give eventually, but right now, I am pissed off and sad. :(

Date: 2011-12-22 12:07 am (UTC)I'm disgusted with this font. For starters, I'm not crazy about too-large font (hell, if you want big font, you can change your own browser to show it - the pages themselves don't have to force them on everyone). It's just frustrating and annoying what they've done to this site.
I knew about the ability to change the default page view to your own layout, but I always avoid doing it, because I like seeing the different layouts and everything. But I think I'm going to have to go your choice, and just view everything with my own. I at least know I like mine. >.<
I had a DW for about two or three years, but I ended up deleting it because nothing ever happens over there. But now I wish I hadn't, because at least Dreamwidth keeps things functional, listens to their users, and doesn't force things on people whether they like it or not.
Yeah, I've had a paid account for years and years (I always happen to be broke when permanent accounts become available), and I really don't want to waste all that time and money invested here. But they're just making it so difficult for people to want to stay. v_____v
