No, seriously. Seriously? This is what I have to deal with. These are GROWN PEOPLE mailing in these tickets. Not like we're citing some four year old on a Big Wheel here, folks. ADULTS. In CARS. VISITING A UNIVERSITY!

I mean, all the angry ones, the 'get a real job' and 'you people suck' and whatever, I can kind of understand, cause getting a parking ticket sucks, yeah. But... 'You're mean :('? Seriously?

Oh yeah. Had a couple come in with just a :( face on the memo lines of the checks. Those always make me giggle. And really, most of the time I just laugh at these (broke down howling over this one, in fact, when I first came across it) but then I realize '...these are adults engaging in (supposedly) an adult business interaction' and then I get a bit :( myself.

You're right, you're right, I need to give them that, at least. Most of the time, the complaints we get, even on check memo lines, are well written. The most memorable exception being the "Parking Nozis" letter.

I am curious as to your interpretation of it, then. Cause we get a fair amount of things that come in with variations on :( either on the envelope or the check. And many more that have 'you're mean' or 'stupid jerks' or similar.

It's just the entire thing, handwriting and type of frowny face. It seems more the product of someone who is unhappy with the fine (...who wouldn't be, their fault or otherwise?) but isn't actually serious in their anger.

No matter what their intent, I would me more inclined to giggle than wonder whether they were serious or not.

Serious or not, I do just laugh at them. They fucked up, not my problem. I just get to be amused by how childish people act over a fine that's THEIR fault. (No, I don't think you have a right to be upset when you did something and got caught. At yourself, maybe, but not at us. And yes, blaming us for giving them a ticket when they're parked illegally IS something many MANY idiots do seriously.)

I get the I WAS ONLY THERE FIVE MINUTES too, because tow companies report tows to us so when someone calls to report their car stolen and we tell them no, you actually parked in a red zone, here's the phone number of the company that towed it....

Seriously, it takes more than five minutes for a tow company to get there, load the car, and drive it back. Don't give me that, people. >:|

I don't have a working printer, so I figured physical tickets would be a better plan than hoping I could borrow someone else's printer.

I have, and I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, I love them and am impressed by their versatility and, dude, why is this the first time I've ever heard Changmin rap? On the other hand, some of those vocal lines really weren't written for their voices, and it shows.

Probably. That seems to be how these people work. And when they never pay us, then we're "mean" for impounding/booting their car to make sure they do.

Yeah, it really does. There's a lot of people here who bitch about speed cameras, and how they're just making money for the council and trying to catch people out.

And not one of them seems to understand that the simple solution is to not break the speed limit.
