Falling on my head like a memory

"Holiday Your Way" 7I have now gone through my Saks Fifth Avenue Christmas/holiday window photos, chosen which to work on, and posted them to my Flickr. They're... okay. I certainly like them better than the really low effort put into last year's. They're not the kind of thing that impresses me though, especially not when I remember series like "Land of 1,000 Delights," "The Winter Palace," "Land of the Bubblemakers," "An Enchanted Experience," "Let's Holiday," "A Brilliant Holiday," and "Once Upon a Holiday." (Okay, they're not so great with naming them.) I know what Saks can do in their Christmas displays.

It's like how I know Bloomingdale's can give us this, this, this, and this, but then this year they gave us this for Christmas/holiday 2025.

The Saks part of my 2025 Christmas photo run was further marred by two brightly lit food trucks reflecting on some windows and Saks staff storing the barriers they use to corral passersby during the day up against the windows at night. No thanks, all of you. That's why there are some whole or partial displays missing here.

I woke up today feeling somewhat shiftless and undirected. In one afternoon, I then managed to
  • make a dermatologist appointment,

  • get the date and time for my pain management appointment changed since it would conflict with the dermatologist appointment,

  • call in a refill for a prescription and find out if I have a different one on file already (I don't, so I have to get it during my pain management appointment,)

  • try to get my neurologist and pharmacy to stop punting the ball on a new medication back and forth without giving it to me at last,

  • pick up two prescriptions from the pharmacy, neither of which is the neurologist one but I'm trying.

Still the shapes fill my head

snowmen 1 (couple)I finally found a warm-ish night when I was available to go, so I traveled into Manhattan on a window display spree.

I've posted Ralph Lauren, Bloomingdale's, Bergdorf Goodman, and Kleinfeld Bridal Christmas/holiday window display photos to my Flickr.

I'll be going through, processing, and posting Saks Fifth Avenue's haul in the near future. They made things so hard on me...

I'm still adjusting the arrangement of ornaments on my tree to my taste and wondering if the (non-thieving) roommate ever notices.

slipping time

december seems to be going by really really fast and thats the best i can hope for ok???!!

i watched a horror movie called "man finds tape" (2025) today and honestly enjoyed it. at first i wasnt even paying attention but it asked that i give it a little more consideration and i had fun. it felt like a very american version of a koji shiraishi production, or at least a very inspired-by production. though i think i prefer shiraishi's typically one camera shooting. but thats neither here nor there. its a little bit cult panic, very monsters among us. it raises a lot of questions on its way to answering like one or two it started out with but like in a fun suspend your disbelief low budget horror way. but theres also several automotive accidents and a few slit throats in it so i know a few folks who would not have fun. still. i did.

working on some paintings and getting anxious/excited about ANE!!

started playing night in the woods but literally havent even met gregg yet so Started is all ive done

my buddy rickfox came down for a few days and brought me coffee and a mug they had made for their own comic project and it was really nice to see them, chill out with them, etc. i guess i really wish i had friends like them around my neighborhood!!

tried to get my scooter started to burn the old gas in the tank but it didnt seem to wanna va, so i wait until a warmer day (which hasnt come yet) and try again.

deconstructed the 50gal fishtank because only one lonely sad fish remained. she's now in a 5gal, its better for her in terms of cleanliness and food access and also humans pass it far more often for stimulation. she's the last remaining fish with many old scars from infections she recovered from, abt 9 years old. good return on a 35 cent investment. what we'll do with the recovered space in the living room now there's no giant tank remains to be seen.

very financially anxious, im kind of broke as a joke this month and am such a humbug i dont really see a way to quickly recoup that x.x other than work harder on stuff. which at least i can do now, it def seems like moving medication time to night has substantially helped with my fatigue issues.

hannukah starts sundayyyyyyy

Oh, no!

While putting up my tree yesterday, I found out one of my strings of antique flower lights no longer works! I didn't check all lines first because the first one lit up fine and I got overconfident. If I'd known in advance, I would have placed my one working line of flower lights on the tree differently. I have two that no longer light up.

I love my flower lights!

Is anyone doing the December posting meme? Is anyone interested in asking me questions for it?

I'm gasping for love

I haven't gone on any trips to take night photos of Christmas/holiday window displays yet because the nights when I'm available and up to go, it's been bitterly cold, and I need to partially remove parts of my right glove to take photos. (Those gloves with the fingertips that claim to let you use your touchscreen have yet to work properly for me when using my iPhone for shooting photos.) That kind of cold makes my hands hurt, especially the bare fingers. Also, if it's too cold my smartphone slows down, including its camera program.

The monthly premium for my Medicare prescription plan rose from $36 a month in 2025 to $100 a month for 2026, so I switched away from Humana to Cigna. Cigna claims to be monthly premium-free but doesn't cover every single prescription of mine; the one it doesn't cover I barely use. It'll probably be fine, but I still can't help worrying I might've made a mistake in switching. If so, it'll take a while to find out.

My head has been killing me lately, which has gotten in the way of me doing a lot of things.
