Note to self: Watching DBSK concert DVDs totally impairs your ability to write. You have a very large fic to finish. Next time, just put in Stargate.

Merry Christmas, bitches! And a Happy Saturday or Holiday of your choice to those who don't celebrate.

[ profile] krillia gave me Star Wars for Christmas! XD Well, sort of. She got me this really awesome Sounds of Star Wars book that I'd been lusting over while she was here, and Star Wars Lego set! With a Wampa! And now I'll have two Lego snowspeeders, so I just need to get a Lego AT-AT and I can stage EPIC HOTH BATTLES!!!

*ahem* About to head over to my sister's for Christmas morning festivities, including but not limited to watching the first Sherlock Holmes movie as a family so we can all go see the new one. It's kind of funny, whenever my family likes the same things I do. Or, maybe not 'funny' so much as unexpected.

Last night was the biiiiiiiiiiiig extended family Christmas at my aunt's house. Fewer people showed up than usual, which was kind of sad, but expected. Mom was really the one who held our family together half the time. Sometimes I think they only came to see her. But my favorite cousin was there and my two favorite uncles (my mom had six brothers and sisters, five of whom are still alive, one of which never comes to anything although he sent me a Christmas card which was WEIRD cause it was to "Joni and Friend" and how the HELL did he find out about Janel? Not that I'm upset about that, just really confused... and this parenthetical ran away from me) so I was pretty happy with who was there.

Happiest part was [profile] transitorial getting along with everyone so amazingly well. My grandma adores her (more than she likes me sometimes, I think XD) and she and my favorite cousin and I talked practically all night like this wasn't the first Christmas she'd come to at all. And my Uncle Ron included her in his traditional scratch lottery ticket Christmas gifting. XD

I won $15! She didn't win anything.

BEST part of the night, though! My favorite cousin has a kid, Cece, kind of adorable now that she's old enough to have grown a bit out of that 'I'm always right and you're not my dad' mentality. Anyway, Janel and I were just chilling and Cece comes to sit in the living room near us cause that family was getting ready to head out, and she looks at Janel and me and asks "Are you guys roommates?"

Which, looking back, is an honest question. She hadn't been introduced to Janel and Janel HAD just kind of randomly showed up at Christmas from her point of view. But it set Janel and I giggling. Think the answer we came up with was 'sort of' or something like that. She gives us this kind of dubious face, so I go ahead and elaborate. She's like 8 or 9, so it's not like she's never heard of gay people before, probably. "She's my fiancee" I tell her. "What's that mean?" I get back.

Again, probably an honest question. How many of you knew what a 'fiancee' was when you were 8? And then to hear it applied in a non-standard situation? Still so many giggles. "We're going to get married." I finally say.

You guys, I cannot even DESCRIBE the face she made. It was so hilarious. It was like a combination of o.O and D: but not really with a "ZOMG EW!" vibe, just in an 'asking a Borg to solve an unsolvable computer problem' way.

So we told her to go ask her dad.

*giggles* Merry Christmas, favorite cousin!

It's a sad day in LJ-land, my friends. I know it's kind of silly to be this upset (and I'm pretty sure [ profile] transitorial thinks I'm overreacting just a bit because she says I should have expected this all from LJ by now, especially after 'Strikethrough' et al) but I am.

So I've dusted off my old Dreamwidth account and created a new one for the fic journal. (Sorry to the people I've been spamming, btw. Especially if you don't like DBSK fic. I'm just really happy I've been doing so well on my [ profile] hc_bingo claim. Only three more fics to finish, and I have an extra already written, so four more posts, probably some time next week.) I'm importing both journals over there today. Whether I just use them as a backup or start crossposting or move entirely depends on what my flist and fandom as a whole decides to do.

Who all currently has a Dreamwidth, btw? I've got some people, but I'm sure I've seen others on my flist posting about having accounts and just never got around to friending them over there. Anyone else?
corellianrogue: (Kanda- raaaaage)
Fucking LJ. So fucking pissed right now.

Not over the change. No, that's just typical LJ stupidity. The fact that there was not ONE COMMENT IN 60+ PAGES THAT THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA AND THEY ROLLED IT OUT ANYWAY. And now there is not one comment in 60+ pages that likes the new fucking comment pages, and do you hear two words from anyone official about it? Ha. No.

One of the LJ mods even admitted in a comment that everyone probably hates him/her right now.

To be fair, unless he/she is directly responsible for this hideous monstrosity of a comment page, I don't hate them. I hate LJ's entire dev team, and probably their PR team, too, but not specifically that mod. Unless they thought this was a good idea, and then I hate them with the fire of a thousand suns.

Even Facebook listens to their users better than LJ, and that's saying something.

You guys... You guys...

corellianrogue: (Ren- Wibble)
for how much pain I am in right now, so this one will have to do.

I stabbed myself under the fingernail, guys.

This hurts so fucking much. Slightly less than ripping the nail off outright, but so much ow. ;_; So much.

...Is that some kind of omen on the first day of December? ;__________;
corellianrogue: (hotdog) can't see the word 'robust' without giggling.
corellianrogue: (Dug and Kevin- resistance is futile)
Today, I got advice on getting a house with my girlfriend from my grandma.

My life is awesome.

(Oh, LJ, it's been a while. I have so many THINGS to tell you, and so many pictures to share, but right now, my life belongs to these godforsaken costumes and it must stay that way until November. But then! Then, I shall shaaaaaaaaaaaaare.)
corellianrogue: (Kanda- hm.)
So, in scrolling through my icons to pick one for a comment, I realized something. Something that really doesn't surprise me at all.

have basically the same expression.

Although that could be the cold meds talking. Just came home from work sick. It's just a cold, but colds always drain me way more than anything else, brain-wise. So I figure if they're going to be paying me to stare at a wall, it might as well be a wall in my own home. About to go lay down for a nap, but figured I'd waste time on the intarwebz while I ate a bit of lunch.

How've you been, flist?

WHAT IS THIS SHOW?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Comment on this post and let me know you want to participate. I will choose six userpics from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are using them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along.

Also, working Big Red Welcome tomorrow. Going to be hot and horrible, but yay overtime? Really going to need it in the coming couple months. About a week and a half till the New Orleans vacation. Janel's uber excited and I want to be excited, but... well... scary. Which it doesn't seem fair of me to be scared when I dragged Janel up here and it's not like she gets to leave in five days after meeting MY family. She's stuck here. But it's still scary. But it'll be time away from work no matter what happens. So yay.

Cosplay is... coming along. Very slowly. So very slowly. Really don't know if we'll finish any of these costumes before November, but it's kind of fun anyway. And I'm making chainmaille. How cool is that? Chainmaille! Me! Making my very own! Out of real links and everything! Also trying to work on my fics for [ profile] hc_bingo but mostly failing so far. We'll see. I'll get at least one bingo if it kills me, but it's frustrating, wanting to write and not finding the time for that and rp and everything else ever and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Man, this is a longer post than I've made in months. Damn. Um... Also watching Protect the Boss. Oh, lord, this show will be the death of me. It's cute and heartbreaking and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah it needs to get subbed faster, fersrs.

Anyway. Flist. What's up with you?
corellianrogue: (Dug- Hi!)
Sup, LJ. Been a while. Seems to be my MO these days. Oh well. I have a meme to do, but I'm at work, so we'll see if I get around to it in this post. >.> See how sneaky I can be~

But for now, I have a story for you, LJ. It's a fun story. If by 'fun' you understand that I mean 'FULL OF IDIOTS.'

So, for some reason, the city decided a regular street wasn't good enough, so we needed not one, but TWO roundabouts down by where I work. Like so:

How could idiots possibly ruin that? )

*sigh* So, yes, you'll have to forgive the crappy paint drawings, but I couldn't wait until later to post these. I needed to get it off my chest. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? I could have told the city that people who live here aren't smart enough to handle these. What do they think we are, British?
corellianrogue: (Hakkai and Gojyo- lean on me)
Guys. Guys, Captain America made me cry. I don't even read comic books, guys. This isn't fair. Make my heart stop hurting.

...Stupid, amazing movie.

corellianrogue: (Wookiepants)
Icon appropriate (sort of).

Is it weird to think one's department director is adorable? Cause mine totally is. (He's not that much older than me, anyway, maybe ten years or so, so I don't feel totally weird.) The University's fiscal year runs July 1 to June 30, so we just got our pay statements telling us if we got raises or not. (Hurray, I did. Very tiny one, but I'll take what I can get, right? Even if it is something like $.30 an hour.)

He delivered them personally to each of our desks together with a short note saying how much he's proud of our team and enjoys working with us. He was practically skipping. I love working for this man. He's so much fun. (And not just because his phone makes lightsaber sounds. Although that is a big reason, too. Maybe I should make this my permanent 'talking about work' icon.)
corellianrogue: (Bad Idea Bears)
So, yeah, thanks to the horrible enabling of [ profile] mellow_dk and [ profile] rhosyn_du I decided to sign up for [ profile] hc_bingo and now I have my card, and it is seriously the awesomest card to ever awesome. No, really, it is. See?

See the awesome of my card! )

I already have ideas for a good portion of them, as well as some extras. I think I'm going to attempt a DBSK blackout, then go back and pick up other bingos and extras with different fandoms. Hopefully that offer of betaing still stands, Rainy? ^^;

The stories will most likely all be posted over at [ profile] envious_muses which is my sadly neglected writing journal. I'll try to remember to post links here whenever I get a bingo, though, and I will keep this post updated as I remember.

Let's see... anything interesting been going on IRL lately? Hm. Well, I'm making a cosplay again for the first time in years. It's all [ profile] transitorial's fault. I'm making two of them, actually, for Nebraskon in November. Vanille from FF13 and Merrill from Dragon Age 2. If you don't know Merrill, this is Merrill.

She's an elf. An elf wearing a chainmail catsuit. This is going to be a long few months.

Joking aside, the chainmail is coming along remarkably well, even if it doesn't look like anything yet. As for Vanille, I have plans for her weapon, we'll see if they work out. I'm also thinking of just dyeing my hair pink instead of getting a wig. Why would I do that, you ask? Because I can. Because my job is awesome and doesn't care if I have pink hair. Well, blue, technically was what I asked about, because this was long before the cosplay idea came up, and my boss was all 'sure, you can dye your hair blue. in fact, I'm expecting you to show up with blue hair now, so you'd better do it.'

I love my job. Have I mentioned that? It's the most boring, mind-numbing place to work that I have ever encountered with some of the most horrible, entitled, bitchy customers ever (I work in a Parking office at a university, in case some people didn't know, and oh lord the helicopter parents) but the people are amazing and I can dye my hair blue (or pink) and show up in tennis shoes every day, and check Facebook all day, and as long as I get my work done, no one cares! And just the other day, my boss was joking about me not taking ENOUGH time off!

And my department director changed his title to 'TK-427' in our official records.

I really love my job.
corellianrogue: (Dug- squirrel gets dead)
Today's installment of 'people writing stupid things after getting tickets for being stupid.'

No, we certainly don't post the signs in advance, and DEFINITELY not by Tuesday of the game week. Oh wait. We do. Well, then the signs must be really tiny, right? Almost unnoticable...

Oops. (Okay, that one's been run over, but it was the only pic I could find.)

But the kid did have one thing right. I do find it terribly amusing when people do stupid things and get tickets. So yeah, when you ignore those signs and park in illegal places and get ticketed, then yes! You are quite pleasing unto mine eyes!
corellianrogue: (DBSK- shhhhh)

In my continuing WTF mail saga, I have decided that some of these are just truly too faith-in-humanity shattering to keep to myself. So here's another.

Usually quite well, actually. Although sometimes I do have very odd dreams. None of them about my wracking guilt over being involved with the horrible act of giving people *gasp* $10 Expired Meter tickets.

I'll have to work on that.

corellianrogue: (Picard- facepalm)

No, seriously. Seriously? This is what I have to deal with. These are GROWN PEOPLE mailing in these tickets. Not like we're citing some four year old on a Big Wheel here, folks. ADULTS. In CARS. VISITING A UNIVERSITY!

I mean, all the angry ones, the 'get a real job' and 'you people suck' and whatever, I can kind of understand, cause getting a parking ticket sucks, yeah. But... 'You're mean :('? Seriously?

corellianrogue: (DBSK- HoMin not all black and white)
Happy Birthday, Mom.

I miss you.
corellianrogue: (Boy Who Waited)
Hewwo thar, LJland! Been a bit of a while since I posted something of substance, but I've been sick and blah and [ profile] transitorial was in Georgia for two weeks on job training and I was aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah lonely (but luckily, I had my [ profile] krillia to keep me entertained and get me addicted to Doctor Who.) :(

(I mean, really, even though I talked to her every day either on the phone or IM. What is this? What has happened to me? I'm a woobie. :( x10000000000000000 Janel-withdrawal. No, seriously, you guys. It's amazing and really really scary all at once, and I never thought I could DO this and just... yes. Me. Forever. Stuff. I don't even.)

Anyway, that wasn't really what I wanted to talk about. There are so MANY things I wanted to talk about! :D I shall put them all under cuts, because this will get long, oh yes.

...For instance, I have just seen that David Tennant and Catherine Tate will be playing Benedick and Beatrice in a West End production of Much Ado About Nothing and ooooooooh, I'd sell a kidney to go. Any of you rich enough you feel like sending a poor, needy fangirl to London for a few days this summer? @_@

And speaking of David Tennant (sort of) [ profile] krillia has caught me up on the latest Doctor. Matt Smith is adorable, but his companions totally steal the show for me. Which is why Krill made me this Rory icon. I wibble so much over that episode.

A meme, specifically one stolen from Rainy~ :D )

And now some completely random, unrelated things that have happened to me lately. )

And finally, a bit of a rant on stupid people and why they shouldn't be allowed to use checks. )

Anyway, LJ, that's been my life lately. Lots of happy with Janel and my Krill, lots of rawr at work, and some other stuff here and there in the middle.

How've you all been?
